My friend, Bernadette Noll, has this phrase stuck on her fridge to remind her family that they all like different things. I feel like everyone else should stick this phrase on their fridge, too. Because it sometimes feels like we’ve all forgotten that it’s the case.
We all like, want, think, and feel different things. It’s much better to celebrate and be interested in those differences, rather than constantly trying to prove that our way is the right way. Just because we believe something it doesn’t mean we’re right.
I love finding out why people like things that I don’t, and I’m kind of obsessed with finding out about the things people think and feel which I don't. I think we have so much to learn from each other’s differences, even those that we disagree with. We should try to share and discuss those differences a little more often, rather than automatically dismissing them as wrong. Who knows, we might even learn something.
